Auto-reset of course

Apr 05, 2017

I'm building a small interactive form for one of our support departments using Storyline 2. The form will be filled out by students in two ways - either online, or during a drop-in session with the department's advisors.

When it is being run in the drop-in, the staff would like it to automatically reset after five minutes of inactivity (i.e. the student has walked away, freeing up the console for another student to take the test).

So, I figured that I could set a "Reset Course" trigger that activates when the slide timeline reaches a particular time or cue point. This works, up to a point.

I navigate to the slide with the trigger set, and then leave it for the appropriate amount of time (20 seconds, for purposes of testing). The course resets as expected, taking me back to the first slide. However, when I navigate through the course again and reach the slide with the trigger again, it immediately resets the course again. I assume this is because although the course has reset, the timeline for the slide is still listed as being at the time set for the trigger (20 seconds, in this case).

Is there any way to test if this is the case, or to reset the course including resetting the timeline of each slide?

TIA
