It depends on what that first slide content includes.  If it includes video and audio, no, it won't play automatically, browsers like Chrome and Safari are now forcing users to "click to allow video and audio" content to play.

Having said that, some indicate success by moving that content to a second slide, then use a flat, static first slide with just an image, a timeline of perhaps 2 seconds, then the slide progresses automatically and the video/audio content plays on the second slide.
