I've discovered when I've been using back buttons on my slides that for some reason, the slide it goes back to doesn't show up at the start of the timeline - it seems to be part way through and stuck! Do I need to create any additional triggers/conditions or is this a bug?

In the slide properties (click the gear/cog icon for the base layer), try setting the "When Revisiting" option to "reset to initial state".

Not sure if I understand you well...
The state of the slide, when going back to it, is define in the properties.
When on a slide, click on the gear icon of it and change the state of the slide when revisiting.
