I am working on a course where we have discovered using the 'Back" button on IE results in the slides or layers overwriting each other. Only way to resolve this appears to be reloading the course. This also occasionally occurs when using the navigation bar on left (Table of Contents) to navigate to a previous slide.
When you consider that the navigation buttons within your published Storyline output never actually navigate you away from the story.html page (and that the browser back button DOES navigate you away from the page), it makes sense that you might see unexpected behavior when using the browser's back button. I'd recommend instructing your learners to avoid that behavior.
Having said that, using the Storyline menu to navigate between slides should not result in slides or layers overwriting each other! Would you be willing to share a copy of your .story project file with us so that we can take a closer look at the problem? Thanks!
Thank you, thank you, thank you.. Phil, I made the change to the slide, and this resolved the issue within the course (navigating using the Table of Contents), and Justin, I expected that was the case with the Back button on IE, but the TOC presented as a red herring...! I will include notes to the audience to avoid using their browser's navigation while reviewing the course.

You need to set your slide to resume saved state or reset to initial state, the automatically decide can cause this.
