Base Layer gets Hidden

Feb 10, 2014

Hello All!

When I create a new layer in Articulate Storyline it will automatically hide the base layer, and it wont let me see the base layer objects. I have tried re-installing and changing the hiding of base layer.

Anyone experience this?

Thanks.

Hi Brad and welcome to Heroes!

Have you checked the individual slide properties to see if you have all theses boxes checked off to unhide the layers or the base layer? You could also check within the timeline to see if the small "eye" icon is closed which would hide the elements.

If you've tried reinstalling Storyline, I'd also recommend following the troubleshooting steps in this article to fix unexpected or erratic behavior in Articulate Storyline.

Hello Ashley!

Thank you for your response.

I checked all of those suggestions and it was still doing it.

It wasn't until I was teaching someone else how to use the slide master that I realized what might be causing the issue.

The background on the feedback master was set to "picture or texture fill", doing this made all of my objects on the original layer disappear.

This is something that potentially might need to get fixed, or it might just be a bug with my program.

Hi Brad,

Just to be sure I understand, when you have a feedback master that has a picture or image filling up the background, you then look at those feedback layers and you can no longer see the base layer elements on the correct/incorrect layer? I think this is by design, as the layer sits on top of the base slide. If you'd like to still see part of the question you could change the transparency of the background image/picture and then you'll be able to see through it to the original slide.
