Base Layer has Hotspots that are active on slide layers

Sep 28, 2017

I have a tab interaction that is built with a base layer that has hotspots that navigate to the slide layers. Problem is on all of the slide layers the hotspots are unseen but active and can be inadvertently clicked on. Any way to isolate the hotspot activity  to just the base layer and not have it active on all the other slide layers?

Yes, if you click on the "gear" icon on each slide layer you can select "Prevent the user from clicking on the base layer" which disables anything on the base layer while the layer is active.

Check out this help article for more information, Working with Layers, scroll down to "Slide Layer Properties"

Hi Nina,

Thanks for following up! While this discussion is a bit older, the functionality should remain. Selecting Prevent the user from clicking on base layer on your layer properties should prevent you from interacting with anything on the base layer, including hotspots, when you're on that specific layer.

If you disable that, as you mentioned, you will have access to the hotspot on the base layer. I just ran a quick test in Storyline 360 Update 49, and when I selected that item, I confirmed I wasn't able to select the hotspot when I was on the layer.
