Basic drop-down list of states/provinces (like in HTML)
Aug 09, 2019
Hi, everyone.
I've done quite a bit of searching in the community, but can't find the answer to this.
How can I create a drop-down list of states or provinces without the items being in text boxes within a layer? (As outlined in approaches like this: https://community.articulate.com/articles/how-to-create-a-drop-down-list-interaction-in-articulate-storyline.)
I need to create a branching scenario. Learners select their state/province, a variable is adjusted, and they're directed to different slides or scenes based on that.
Using a layer with text boxes won't work for 50 items, and this seems like a difficult way to create something that's very easy in HTML (https://gist.github.com/jwmalara/11190014).
Is there such functionality in SL 360, or a workaround? Thanks for any suggestions!
Allan

You can create a list with radial buttons and insert into a scroll pane.
I'd probably use a text entry field and have them type in their state.
That makes sense, Tom.
I'll have to go with the radio buttons, as the state-specific content will only be available for ones where the course has been implemented. Users will need to be able to see right away which are in place.
Just tested this and it works fine!
Much appreciated.
