Hi Everyone, I have recently started testing and looking into mobile use for the my projects. And I have found the player very good, but I cant record the answers and I am having problems tracking the course. I have looked into lots of avenues from reading on here but still haven't solved my problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated
The "best" method really depends on where you're hosting your course, what type of information you need to track and how your users will access the content. Could you share a bit more about what you've done to date or the requirements of your particular environment?
Hi Colin- If you haven't seen this already, I would recommend checking out this article on a few ways of tracking your course. It may be a great resource for you. If that doesn't provide the insight you're looking for, as Ashley mentioned it might be helpful if you could provide a little more detail as to what you've already tried and what kind of environment you're distributing in.
I have converted a Storyline 1 project to a storyline 2 project, I publish it for a LMS that we use, (usually to scorm 1.2) but have seen in places where Tin Can is recommended for tracking. I have published with the 2 methods above, with & without mobile player (as I have read mobile player does not track) , & always with HTML 5 selected.
Thanks for your great reply, I have tried these avenues but when it comes down to it I need to see the answers giving to the quiz at the end of the course, it will give me the percentage that the user has achieved but I am looking for more detail.
When a course (published to scorm 1.2) is done on a desktop or laptop, I get to see that they have agreed to the terms of use of the course (through free form quizzing), they get 20 quiz questions and I get to see what they answered for each quiz question & I provide a feed back questionnaire where people get to give their opinions and I get to se what they say.
As far as I am aware this isn't provided on the mobile player or when using the ipad, tablet or mobile platform, but I am hopefully doing something wrong?
So can you tell me you can see the detail by using in Tin Can on the mobile player app?
If you're publishing for SCORM 1.2, you'll want to use this setting that Leslie shared to be able to track results on mobile devices:
If your LMS doesn't support Tin Can API, mark the box to Include HTML5 output.
You'll want the box for Articulate Mobile Player viewing not selected in that scenario. Your users will still be able to access the course on mobile devices, and their results will be trackable.
The Articulate Mobile Player only supports tracking with Tin Can API. If you do end up publishing using Tin Can API, you can select the Articulate Mobile Player option when publishing and your users results will be tracked.
Hi Ali, yes it worked for me the problem was my free form questions or tick boxes were affecting the course I think.
I have a tick box slide at the start for a terms and conditions, and a feed back slide for users, they aren't been recorded, is there a way I can have their feedback recorded?
Articulate Storyline lets you track a course either by the number of slides viewed or by a single quiz (result slide). Tracking both measurements for the same course isn't supported. Similarly, tracking multiple quiz scores in the same course isn't supported. However, you may be able to track more than one SCO (shareable content object) in a single course using one of the unsupported methods in this article.
Just coming back to you, as I am doing more testing today.
Basically I have a course with , a quiz question at the start (multiple choice yes or no graded) I then have around 70 slides of details & information, another multiple choice yes or no question graded, next slide is a feedback (fill in the blank question graded) and then a survey question or likert scale. These all then link to the next slide the results slide.
I have Published to Scorm 1.2, Scorm 2004 4th edition & Tin Can Api and none of them record everything and I can't get the 100 percent score like when I do it ont he desktop. Is there a way of doing this?
So you are utilizing one results slide for all of this and are not getting the right score in HTML5? Are you able to replicate this in SCORM Cloud or is this issue limited to your LMS?
Please be sure you are viewing in a supported environment as explained in this documentation as well.
Yes that's what happening basically I think the multiple choice questions scores are been recorded but the other 2 aren't and as a result its affecting the result at the end. I haven't used SCORM Cloud, but I will upload it and test it there?
Testing it at SCORM Cloud would help narrow down where the issue is, and that's why we do always recommend giving it a test there. You mentioned a survey/likert question - and just as a reminder, survey question's aren't graded and therefore won't be included in the results/score tally.
I have figured most of it out, I have a feedback graded slide (Fill in the blank), but there is no correct answer to this but Storyline looks for a correct answer? I use to give a correct answer a weighting or point of 0 and incorrect answer a weighting or point of 0 but for the answer to be recorded I think I need to give it a weighting or point of 1 or higher, do I?
A fill in the blank slide within Storyline is going to offer the option for correct answers. If you didn't want a correct answer you could use the "freeform text entry" option as detailed here.
You could also look at assigning the correct and incorrect answer the same score of 1 each? That way regardless of being correct or not they'll still get the same points scoring.

Hi Ali,
I have read this but doesn't give any information on mobile or tablet usage?
Thanks

Hi Colin!
I think the information you are looking for is within this documentation.
