Best way to capture responses without an LMS?

Apr 08, 2020

So I am creating some short courses for my school to use while we're closed for covid-19 (I am using the free trial so very new to this). We're using Google Classroom during this time of E-learning and I need a way for teachers to be able to see if students have completed their work. It would be even better if they could see the score. I see Google Classroom doesn't have SCORM capabilities. What is the best way for my teachers to be able to see their student's grades?

I have already completed a short course that makes use of the results page at the end if that helps.

Hi Lauren,

You would need an LMS. The simplest of all would probably be setting up a WordPress site with GrassBlade xAPI Companion and GrassBlade LRS.

If you have multiple Articulate modules for a course, or need certificates, or need to sell, you can also add a LMS plugin to the mix like LearnDash LMS, WP Courseware, LifterLMS, or LearnPress.

I would like to be able to "sell" (or at least hand out the course for others to use). So that means I need to purchase one of those plugins and include the plugin in the file with my course? Or do I plug it into the Storyline program? Sorry, I am very new to this but very interested in learning. I've tried researching but can't seem to find any answers that I can actually understand with my limited knowledge.

Hi Lauren

If you can manage a WordPress website, you can go for the above solution (WordPress + GrassBlade xAPI Companion + GrassBlade Cloud LRS + one of the LMSes). For selling the courses, you can add Free WooCommerce plugin, or use the method provided with the LMS plugin you selected.

Alternatively, you can get someone to set it up for you. And then depending on your skills, you might need someone who can occasionally help managing it for you.

Alternative 2: You can look for an online cloud based LMS service that supports SCORM or xAPI based Articulate courses. And, stores and reports on the data from these content.
