Black box appearing on slides while loading (new modern player)

May 23, 2018

I've been testing the new modern player (love the native Chromeless support btw), but there's a big box cutting off about a third of my slide on mobile devices (tested on Android and iOS) when loading/transitions occur.

I've already submitted a bug report for loading screens disappearing after using swipe navigation on mobile devices (still eagerly awaiting an official fix), so I think the two issues may be connected.

But as you can probably agree, NO loading screens are a lot more bearable than an ugly box covering half my content during loading, so I will be reverting back to the classic player for now.

Just letting everyone know. I've tested this on both our LMS and Articulate Review.

Hi Rotem,

I saw that Ben worked with my colleague Cleo on a few different pieces of this, and I'd like to have our team take a look at your file to confirm if we're seeing the same thing and do a bit further testing. Do you have a .story file you can share with us? If so, you can upload it here and the team can dig in.

Hey Leslie,

Apologies for the late reply - I had intended to put a small file together showcasing the issue, but completely forgot until Ashley replied. Oops! :P

I've attached a .story file with the issue, and published it to Articulate Review here:

There's a 2 second long 'push' transition between the slides, which should give you enough time to see the black square pop up. The issue shows on my Android's Chrome browser, but not on my desktop Chrome browser - so I think the problem is specific to mobile.

Thanks for your help!

The day Crystal alluded to is here! 🎉 We just released update 19 for Storyline 360; check out all the goodies it includes here

We've got a solution for the issue where slides with transitions would get cut off when viewing on a mobile device.

Here’s how you can update Storyline 360 to see everything the latest release has to offer. Let us know what you think!
