Blackboard and saving the answers of my students

Jan 29, 2016

We are using a course build in Articulate Storyline (scorm 2004) and we published it in Blackboard. Our students are going to write their answers in the course and they will have a several weeks to finish this course. The answers need to be saved for a several weeks. Is this possible in Blackboard? We installed Articulate Storyline as needed (Player Propeties > Other > On restart > Always resume). When we tried this all our testanswers where gone (!) and BB started the course from the beginning and didn't rembered our teststudent.

Hi, Monique -- Thanks for reaching out with your question! While I cannot speak on using Blackboard first hand, I have seen that there are a fair number of members here in the community who use that LMS provider, so hopefully they will be able to chime in to assist.

And may I ask if you have reached out to Blackboard directly for their recommendations or input on whether or not what you are hoping to achieve is possible? If so, please feel free to share their feedback here for others who may benefit, as well.

In the meantime, I also wanted to be sure to pass along this article on How to Troubleshoot Your LMS with SCORM Cloud in case it may be of some assistance.

Hi Christie

We think we have a (short term) solution. We are publishing our Articulate Storyline module in a webversion instead of LMS. Then we upload the module in Blackboard therefor the module is viewed as a webversion. Our students have to change their computer settings 'save history for 90 days'. Normally it's 20 days (on our computers). It's working in a teachters mode and now we are testing it in a students mode (which didn't work the first time). Our students work in this module for 70 days. They will write a lot in this module (it isn't a quiz).

Till summer we have time to invent how we can publish our module in the LMS (scorm 2004) like our first plan.

Ideas are welcome!

Greetings Monique
