Blackjack (21, Pontoon etc) - eLearning challenge #278
Apr 21, 2020
First time I've ever actually managed to sit down and give one of these challenges a go!
A long time ago I used to be a casino croupier - which made the idea of creating a blackjack player versus dealer game pop in my head I guess.

A lot more straightforward than I thought it would be when I started - with more time would be interesting to put more complexity in to the variables.
I have made it simpler than true blackjack rules, so Ace is always high (11), there's a limit of 5 cards max for both player and dealer - and whilst I wanted to introduced stakes- just didn't have time! Which did mean no doubling up or splitting of anything like that!
It's not the prettiest thing - but just had one evening to do it!
edit - updated with first to 5 wins erm wins mechanic, characters etc

I was a croupier also Jay and then a Pit Supervisor at Sydney Harbour Casino in Australia - which casino?
I'll be interested to check this out when I get a chance. Thanks for sharing :-)
I was at what was Ladbrokes Casino in Maid Marian Way in Nottingham UK - it's changed names many times since - was about 20 years ago.
Hardest job I ever had, and ever hope to have! My brain wasn't built to work that fast with numbers, have much respect to anyone who can cope with that work - so kudos to you Wendy :)
I loved being the dealer - when they promoted me to Supervisor I was bored as and prayed for the day there was a dispute and we had to recreate the hand...supervising good dealers is mind numbing....
You would have loved supervising me then! I had many a dispute against me ;) Sometimes, on rare occasions, I was actually right too! I was truly hopeless.
I really like it Jay, I played a while, for the try again I would get rid of the instructions and some sort of escalator would be great, well done and thanks for sharing.

I've updated to add a first to 5 wins, erm wins mechanic, some characters, and couple of bug fixes - don't have the time for any more at the moment!
I've spent some time this week recreating my own version of Blackjack, details here with a link to the game
