blank lines in notes

Jul 25, 2016

Please explain why when you publish to the Web, if you choose "Open", blank lines between paragraphs in Notes appear, but if you choose "HTML", the blank lines are not included.

Thank you.

Hi John!

I'm not sure I'm following what you are asking here, but it does sound like you may be trying to view the published content locally vs the intended environment.

If you view an Articulate Storyline course on your local hard drive (or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive), you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features to fail. To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. See this article for details.

When you publish  the content and view as your learner would, do you have an issue?

I was referring to the Notes tab in the Player.

Publishing to the web has several options:  zip, open, html, etc.
When I chose "open", viewing both in the local hard drive and the intended environment,  the blank lines between paragraphs were retained, but when I chose "html", it immediately opened in a browser and the blank lines between paragraphs were removed.  Why?
Thank you,
John

Hi John!

Not sure why you were not able to respond. Were you coming to the forums to do so or replying via e-mail?

Did you check out the article that I shared above? When you are viewing the content via 'Open', you are viewing locally and not in the intended environment.

I would recommend that you publish, zip (this is the only option I typically use from the publish successful dialog box), and then upload to the environment. You can then view as your learner would.

Hi Leslie,
I replied via the forum.

This situation was only with publishing to the web.  I checked out the article, and it has good info I'll use next time that we publish to the web instead of for the LMS.

When I chose "open", viewing both in the local hard drive and the intended environment (a link to the story.html file on a SharePoint page, the blank lines between paragraphs were retained, but when I chose "html", it immediately opened in a browser and the blank lines between paragraphs were removed.  Why?
I think when we used Captivate (this was the pilot storyline project) and published to the LMS we zipped the course, so I beleive that will be the way it will be down with Storyline. A coworker puts the courses into the LMS.
Thank you,
John

Hi John!

I reached out to my colleagues for assistance and there seems this could be related to an issue that our team is aware of. Would you be able to share your .story file or pictures of the different outputs so that I can add the documentation?

I will go ahead and attach this thread for follow up when applicable.

I apologize for the confusion previously, but this was not an issue I was aware of.
