Blank Player For Some Slides

Nov 04, 2013

Hi all,

I have a Storyline course I've recently published for LMS, with which I'm having erratic playback issues. Locally, it plays fine. On a couple of in-house servers running Moodle 5.2.5, it runs fine. On the client's server (also recently upgraded to Moodle 2.5.2), certain slides fail to load. The player framework comes up, but then it sits and spins on the content. The slides in question are all relatively similar. They contain audio, video, text, and photos. While some slides hang, other nearly identical slides play fine.

We've tried simplifying the slides, removing layers and triggers, recreating the slides, all to no avail. Some of the slides with video play, so I'm reasonably certain it's not a MIME type issue. At this point I've exhausted my ideas. Anyone got any bright ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Ashley,

So far it's only been the two of us who are working on the project who have viewed it. It works fine when we view it from our instances of Moodle, but hangs when we try to view it from the client's Moodle. To the best of our ability, the servers are as nearly the same as possible. Their server simply refuses to load the content on some of the slides, no matter what we've tried so far.

I've seen weird issues with caching/apache stuff - esp when using full-time ssl or some form or caching plugin or proxy that can get in the way. Try using some browser plugins like fiddler/firebug to see if you can see where it's hanging - also make sure you check the php error logs on the server.

We can do some remote diagnosis for clients having these issues (I work for the certified Moodle Partner Catalyst IT) - if you are able to pay someone to help diagnose the issues and can't figure it out yourselves - feel free to drop me an e-mail.
