Not sure why they would take out this functionality, I am working on a new project for the first time in Storyline and I know for a fact the client will ask for it.

I'd put in a feature request for this for Articulate's consideration:  http://www.articulate.com/support/contact/submit.php?form=feature

As for why they left it out, don't know.  I, for one, don't miss it or need it.  But I can appreciate those who may want it.

Storyline, for its first release IMVHO, was probably never meant to be 100% of PowerPoint + 100% of Presenter + 100% of Quizmaker + 100% of Engage, + 100% of Screenr, etc.   If it had, we'd probably be beta-testing it for years.

For the first release, I think they picked the best features from those tools to bring forward, along with adding some new ones to create a brand, new game-changing piece of software.

With any first release, you can't do it all.  You have to prioritize, do what you can, and then get the software in people's hands.  From there, how you continue to grow and mature the product with user input is critical.

I think a lot of us have some features that we miss.  I have mine--some of which sometimes cause me to shake my head.

But, at the end of the day, the first release is outstanding, IMVHO, and a step forward for e-learning development.  All we can do is continue to express our needs and wants and also file feature requests with that.

If other people want this feature, they should file their own feature requests.  The more voices, the better sometimes.
