Hi there, Diana. Our team is looking at an issue where zoom regions blur high-definition images in the HTML5 output of Storyline 360. It sounds like it might match what you're seeing.
Are you able to include Flash output in your publishing options? If viewed in a browser that has Flash Player enabled, you should see some improvement in the zoom quality.
I'll keep you updated on any new information we can share. Thanks for reaching out!
It could be that you're seeing the same issue Crystal referenced in her last reply. To be sure, would you mind sharing your file with me? The more sample files we have of this issue, the better!
You can click here if you'd rather send it privately. Thanks!
Thanks for chiming in. We are seeing some issues in Storyline 360 with images appearing blurry when you apply a zoom region to a slide.
In your other post, you mentioned you're having other issues like lag and object shift. We'll want to have a look at your file to see exactly what's going on there.

Yes, I also experienced blurriness when using zoom, even a small amount of zoom. In the preview mode, the zoom looks great. But when the file is published (this is for web view), the zoom makes the the blurriness too much.
Alyssa I didn't see your response until N B added to the thread today. I'm glad you are seeing the issue as well and look forward to the update that fixes the issue(s).
Unfortunately I cannot share project files for confidentiality reasons, but it seems like a universal problem. Everyone at my company using SL360 (about 8 of us) is having this same issue.
As for lag and object shift, that is persistent but seems to vary by degree from project to project.
Hi, Jon: Thanks for sharing this extra piece with us! Oh my ..we'll definitely need to dig in and see if we can nail down why everyone at the company is experiencing those issues. We can appreciate confidentiality and are happy to sign an NDA, if that works for you and your team. Just let us know!
To all: We'd love to take a look at a .story file to make sure we see what you see during Preview and after Publish! As my teammate, Alyssa, mentioned above: The more sample files we have of this behavior, the better!
If you're able to share a project with us, feel free to share it privately via this link or add the project to this conversation by using the Add Attachment button in your reply. We're standing by!
We're continuing to look at the reported cases of the issue: In the HTML5 output (Storyline 360),images appear blurry when a zoom region is applied to a slide; I understood the new insight as everyone at the company is experiencing lag and object shift in addition to the blur and got worried.
My apologies again. Let me know if you have any other questions, I'm happy to help!
I am having the same issues with implementing corporate CI icons into a zoom region. What I discovered though is that it does not look blurry when you put in icons from the given icons pool. So this is my not really optimal workaround right now.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. You mentioned that an icon from the "given icons pool" doesn't look blurry in a zoom region. Are you referring to icons from the Content Library?
yes, sorry I meant icons from the Content Library. I included some and even if you enlarge them they look perfectly sharp. I was working with a 960x540 story size.
Thanks for clarifying! The difference in quality could be due to different file types. The Content Library includes vector icons which can be scaled up or zoomed in and still look very crisp.
I am experiencing the same thing. Blur on zoom. Crystal mentioned publishing in Flash. However, I am required to use the modern player so that's not an option. Unless this gets fixed, This feature is completely useless.
Thanks, Eric. I know as lots of folks transition to HTML5 only this is becoming a more problematic bug. I've updated the team on how this is impacting customers and we'll share any updates here as we can!
Hello, I'm hoping this is still the correct thread to post this on. Are there any updates on this issue, now that HTML5 is even more prevalent? I'm working on an image-heavy where image quality is important, and would love to be able know if I need to apply a workaround instead of using the built-in Zoom feature.
I am experiencing the same issue as well. is there a resolution you could recommend that when we zoom in, the picture is not blurry. How big does the zoom in need to be?
We haven't determined a specific resolution where the picture isn't blurry in the zoom region. If our team finds a particular resolution that is safe, we'll let you know in this discussion!
Hi I'm wondering if Articulate has solved for this HTML5 Zoom blurriness issue yet? Is it even solvable by your IT group? (It looks like it's been a few years that this issue has been around). thanks for any update.
I'm sorry to hear you're running into this as well! We don't have any updates to share on a fix for this yet, as it is still in the early stages of review based on our How We Tackle Bugs article.
To help you plan, it's unlikely to be fixed in the next couple of updates, but we'll be sure to jump back in here with any news to share.
I am jumping into this discussion to share that we just released Storyline 360 (Build 3.63.27628.0) which includes the fix for the bug where images were blurry if they were in a Zoom Region. Now all you need to do is update Storyline 360 in your Articulate 360 desktop app! If you have additional questions, don't hesitate to reach out in this discussion or in a support case.

I'm having the same issue. Only I'm using all Storyline icons and characters. The icons seem to do fine with the zoom, but the character gets fuzzy.
I have plans to do a zoom on a document for another course, but now thinking it might not work.

Hi Diana,
The blurred effect may be due two factors:
1) Your zoom is defined around a very small area.
2) Your player dimension is also small, resulting in all images inside the player be rendered proportionaly smaller.
Even high quality source images can be affected by these two factors.
The zoom on click works in a different way so this is why they present different results.
I'm having the same issue. HQ image, looks terrific "zoomed in" while arranging, looks blurry in Preview/Publish.

Hi, N B: I'm so sorry you've also come across this problem. You're in the right place to be in the know with any new information, and here's an inside look at how we tackle bugs when they're reported!

Hi Katie,
Are you saying there are users who do not experience image degradation with the zoom feature?
Ah, sorry for the confusion there, Jon!

I still see blurred resolution with a zoom region. anyone else?
