Blurry Camtasia MP4 Video in SL MP4 AND scrambling of MP4 in Windows Media Player

Jul 15, 2021

I have two issues and need some suggestions.

I am creating MP4s using Camtasia (screen recording some directions) and then embedding this within Storyline. From there, I am publishing to create an MP4 for upload on our work website from Storyline. I am encountering a brief (3-4 second scrambling) of the video output when viewing in Windows Media Player.

I have allowed default settings for the videos. I have also edited to the highest quality and reduced the dimensions to 540p to ensure more clarity in Camtasia video output. However, no matter what I do, I am having a brief moment in all the videos where the screen is scrambled upon initial play. If I rewind the video to the beginning after the scramble, it seems to play okay the second time. No matter what I do, 1) the Camtasia screen recording is not as clear after publishing in SL and 2) there is a brief scrambling period of the final Storyline MP4 in Windows Media Player.

Any suggestions on eliminating the blurry video and the scrambling moment?

Thanks,

Melissa

Hello Melissa,

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes! ⭐️

Happy you reached out to share what you're experiencing. It sounds like you see this behavior after you publish your course to video and view it on Windows Media Player. I'm ready to help!

  • As a first step, can you try viewing the MP4 on a different player? Like Review 360 or Quicktime to see if you get different results?

If you don't see improvement from there, connect with one of our support engineers as the next step, so they can test the MP4 and offer suggestions!
