Blurry elements (e.g. text) on screen in published output

Dec 07, 2017

Hello,

My client was complaining about text/imagery appearing slightly blurry. This is a Storyline 1 output. We tested in Chrome and Firefox on laptops and desktops and I noticed as well. This hadn't been the case in earlier versions, so it is a bit confusing to me because I hadn't changed any publishing settings. However, I noticed that Flash was not enabled and when I enabled Flash in the browser the output immediately became clearer.

Is this a thing? Should I disable HTML5 output when publishing or is there a different root cause for this blurry issue?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi Steve.  You might find that objects aren't as crisp in HTML5 output for Storyline 1.  You could consider limiting your content to Flash only, though you would be limited to desktop browsers with Flash enabled.

I wanted to mention that in Storyline 360 and Storyline 3, we rebuilt our HTML5 engine.  HTML5 output in our latest versions looks great on virtually every major browser.  Check it out if you haven't already!

Hi Steven,

You should be able to open each project in Storyline 3 and continue working normally. You may have to make some minor adjustments based on enhancements in newer versions such as how text is wrapped, or player elements available but it should be a light lift!
