Blurry images when inside any shape

Feb 14, 2019

Hi Guys,

This is just a simple one. When I change the shape of any image (using FORMAT/PICTURE shape) in Storyline 360, this graphics gets blurry when played in a Player. Is it just a bug in SL or there's any solution to make it work proper way? Thanks in advance.

Hello Jacek,

Thanks for reaching out and letting us know what you are experiencing with your project.

I'm able to see a bit of blurriness in inserting an image vs. using an image to fill a shape, but nothing noticeable when changing the shape.

Would you be able to share the steps to replicate and the use-case for the fill shape vs an image so that I can get this reported correctly?

Hi Leslie, thank you for your reply. I didn't know I got a reply, I missed this, sorry. I wouldn't name it "nothing noticeable" for sure ;) Could you please open the attached file and preview it? Same photos and exactly the same size of rectangles.
Left - original
Right - imported to rounded corners rectangle.
I think the right one is unusable.

Hi Jacek,

I agree. That is a big difference for sure. Thank you for sharing an example so that I could take another look.

I've reported this to my team to dig into a bit more.

Using Picture Tools > Format > Picture Shape seems to have slightly better quality than using a picture fill on a shape.

The bottom left image in the attached file seems better than the one of yours in the top right.

I'll attach this thread to the report as well so that we can share any updates we have with you here.

Hi Jacek,

Great news! We just released Update 33 for Storyline 360Here are the details.

It includes a fix we made for images that were blurry when their shapes were changed, or when they were used as shape fills.

Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application. Details here.
