Boken links to attached resources

Jun 07, 2016

Hi. I'm newer to Storyline, and just learned (the hard way) that moving a .story file to a different folder breaks the URL links to attached resources. URL links are absolute vs relative. Ok. I understand. The problem is, when learning the software and reading the online tutorials, I didn't even think about that. Would it be possible to add a written "tip" or "reminder" about this issue in the "Storyline 1: Attaching Resources to the Player" knowledgebase? You can save others some time and embarrassment - especially with customers that are new to elearning and already hesitant about its benefits. Thank you.

Hi Len,

Are you using Storyline 1 or Storyline 2? Just wanted to check, as when you attach a document to the Resource tab it should stay with your .story file. We are aware of a recent issue in Storyline 2, where that link is not staying consistent - so that's a current bug our team is investigating.

Also, I did want to share in terms of moving your project files, you'll want to confirm that you're working on local project files as described here.

Hi all,

I wanted to provide an update here, as Storyline 2 Update 11 was just released, and included a number of fixes which you can see in the release notes available here. The item you all may be particularly interested in is how it fixed an issue where

  • Fixed issue where file attachments wouldn't be saved in the Storyline project file prior to publishing

You can download the latest update here, and after downloading and installing the latest update you’ll want to republish any existing content to ensure that the updates and fixes are applied.
