I'm not sure I'm clear on what you're describing - applying a bold font to a text changes it's placement or relation to other objects? I do see that a bold font does modify the overall shape and size of the text - but that is to be expected as it's a change in the font.
Could you share a bit more information about what you're seeing and how you've set up your slide to see this behavior?
Sorry should have attached this. Notice all the bold font is slightly above the normal font. The entire sentence is set to the same size font, alignment, etc... When you bold it though it realigns that text to be above the others.
What font are you using? Are you able to share a copy of the .story file here with us? I was testing using Open Sans and the Articulate font, and I see a minor shift - but it looks to be the normal Bold shift seen in powerpoint or word - and not nearly as noticeable as yours.
We just noticed changing the font resolves the issue, a tad or completely, but our developers like to have their font selection.
Strange thing is, looking at the .story file, when editing, the text looks normal. The only time you see this much of a change is after the file has been published or during preview. This particular page uses Century Gothic. Attached is the slide in question and a screen shot of the font when editing.
Thanks for sharing the file. I took a look at the preview - and I'm not seeing the bolded font out of place like in your original image. I attached a screenshot of the example here.
Thanks for the reply Wendy but Century Gothic is the only one we have, the other types are not installed on these computers. Also, the limit on installation access would be a problem so it would be better to be able to bold certain font. We have used other fonts so the problem would be resolved with a selection of another font (only a handful that we can see so far) but, again, our developers want the ability to use any font we have available.
Ashley, all the machines are set to DPI 96 so that shouldn't be the problem. I double checked the preview of this slide and I still see the text just above the other. Could you double check that your font stayed at Century Gothic? It looks like it did but just want to make sure you are seeing exactly what we have.
My font stayed at century gothic and pt 16. Can you tell us a bit more about your system set up? Are you seeing this with all storyline files or just this one? If it's just this one, you can try importing it into a new project as described here.
The same thing happens on other systems, also my developer said it has been an issue with other courses as well. We performed the repair on her computer for another issue and it did not resolve this one.
I will try a repair on mine and see what happens, may be tomorrow by the time I get back with you.
Thanks for letting me know you were on Windows 7. I operate mostly in Windows 8, but took a look to see if I could see any differences in Windows 7, and wouldn't you know - there it was. I took some screen captures of the differences side by side, and the Windows 7 version shows the bolded text a few pixels higher so I'm going to share this with our QA team for review.
I don't have a timeframe to offer in regards to when I'll hear back from them, but I'll post any additional updates here once available. I did notice that the bold issue was less visible when viewing the HTML5 output - not sure if that would be a workaround for you. You'll just want to make sure that they're using one of the browsers here.
Did you find a solution for this? I have the same problem using Ariel - text that is bold is higher than the rest of the text. I can't change the font because I'm using a client's style & branding rules.
I too am using the latest version of Storyline 2 on Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 64bit and the problem still persists. The font in use is Century Gothic. Attached is an example where you can see the extent of the misalignment. This problem exists across a number of courses but does not present when using Storyline 1 on the same setup.

Hi Kimberley
just an observation. Does it make any difference if you used the Century Gothic Std Bold font instead of bolding the regular font?
Hi Kimberly,
Thanks for sharing the file. I took a look at the preview - and I'm not seeing the bolded font out of place like in your original image. I attached a screenshot of the example here.
Also, I don't think we checked it before, but you'll also want to ensure you're using the DPI setting of 96 detailed here.

If it's in all projects, you may also want to go through the repair.

Hi Kimberly,
Are you all operating in the same environment - say Windows 7 or something?
Ashley,
All of the development environments are the same, Windows 7 64bit. Development is only done locally.

Thought I'd jump in here and say I've seen this as well. I'm attaching a screen shot of published output using Myriad Pro.
This is Win 7 64 bit in SL2.
Thanks Brett - I let our team know that it was occurring and I'll keep this thread updated.
Just realized... it looks like the latest update fixed our problem. Thank you guys.

Awesome! Thanks for popping in with an update :)

Hi Chris! I popped in to check on this and it is still in the hands of our QA Team. This thread is flagged to be updated when applicable.
Hi Leslie!
Thanks for letting me know. I'll keep an eye on this thread now.
Sounds great! You should be subscribed as well and be notified of updates :)

I have a very unhappy client due to this issue. Amy word on when it might be fixed. Been months now.
Hi Wendy!
Are you utilizing Windows 7 as well? Our QA Team is still working on this and I do not have an update yet.
I have both Windows 7 and 8.1 - happens in both
Thanks Wendy! I've shared this with our QA Team and linked your similar report.
