Branching scenes > help with triggers/variables

Aug 20, 2013

Hello,

I'm working on a project which demos a piece of software. There will be several different departments using the module, and each workflow is organized into its own scene. I have a slide where users pick their department, and based on their selection they go to a menu screen which displays the various tasks that the module is demoing. Some of these tasks are unique to the department, so I can navigate them back to their department menu so they can select another task. Some tasks are the same though, so I need to figure out a way to navigate them back to the menu of the department they initially selected.

What is the most efficient way to do this?

Hi Joshua,

Welcome - looks like you've only posted a few times.

I threw this together REALLY quickly and need to run out the door, but I figured it might get you started. Apologies for the "departments", since they're loosely based on gardening - quick way for me to "rapidly develop" this. ;(

Anyway, there's a main menu where Learners choose whether they're pruners or weeders. T/F variable is attached, so whichever one they choose sets that variable to true - and jumps them to that scene.

The first slide of both scenes has a common tasks rectangle that jumps them to THAT scene, which currently has a slide for watering. That slide has a "home" button that jumps them to their respective homes based on which variable is true.

Please shout out with any questions - gotta run! Hope it's working right - I thought it was when I checked it!

Thanks Becky, this worked perfectly!

I'm glad you understood my intention, I was worried I might have been a little long-winded. For a moment I was worried it wasn't working, but that's because I had the variable to specify the department below the trigger to take the user to the particular slide. Once I reversed them, it functioned correctly.

Thanks again for your assistance,

-Josh

Hey Joshua,

Not long-winded at all and I, in turn, am glad you understood my "gardening" scenario. It wasn't even a real gardening scenario! Just something off the top of my head to "get me there." I know people usually do things like Example A, Example B, Example C...and I know I SHOULD grasp those, and ultimately I do, but I have an easier time with real (sort of) wording.

Glad you thought of trigger order, also. It tends to bite now and again.

Hope your project goes smoothly. Shout out with any other questions...great community here.
