Bug in Articulate Player on iPad?

Mar 18, 2014

I have a course with a group object (1 text box and 3 images) that sits inside a scrollable area in a tabbed interactivity. On the iPad in Articulate Mobile Player the zoom feature doesn't work for the images in the scroll area. I know that zoom isn't supported for HTML5 output, but I expected it to work in the native app?

When I click on the image to zoom it, the presentation freezes until I click back or next.

Hi Andrew,

Are you trying to use the zoom region set up or the pinch to zoom gesture? The gestures should be working within the mobile player, as mentioned here.  The zoom region feature should work within HTML5 and the mobile player as indicated in the comparison chart.

Can you tell me a bit more about which set up you're trying to use or share your Storyline file with us so we can take a look at your set up?

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for sharing the file here - I saw the same behavior that you shared that you're unable to click on the zoom button and therefore you can't zoom into the picture. I tried recreating this in my own files in a few different ways, which you can see here:

Slide 1 - stand alone image

Slide 2 - Image grouped with text box

Slide 3 - image and text box in scroll panel, not grouped

Slide 4 - Image and text box in scroll panel, grouped

Each of these scenarios worked as expected on my iPad mini with iOS7 and using the mobile player.

Could you share the original .story file so that I can look for any differences in how it's set up?

Hi Ashley - I'm seeing erratic behaviour in the articulate mobile player for any image I have that isn't on the base layer. Pretty much any zoomable image on a layer above the base layer isn't zooming for me...

I'm using iPad4 iOS7 and the mobile player

See http://www.cw.bc.ca/onlinecourses/development/hal/ipad/story.html

I'm attaching the most recent .story file that I have

Hi Andrew,

Thanks for sharing your original file and the published output. I tested your version and was able to recreate the same behavior on a new file when using the zoom picture on an image while it's on a layer. I've reported this to our QA team but I don't have a time frame to offer in regards to a fix for this issue, but will update this thread when there is additional information to share.

Hi Andrew,

I see that this issue is still with our QA team for review. I don't have an additional update on the timeline or possibility of a fix for this, but it seems that it's isolated to the zoom image on a layer while viewed in the mobile player. This thread has been added to the existing report filed with our QA team so I'll be able to update you here once there is additional information to share.
