Bug on iPad

Feb 18, 2014

Hi,

I created a course with Storyline update 2 which worked fine on iPad via the LMS Mos Chorus. The story size is 1000x600 and the player is configured as follows :

- browser size : resize browser to fill screen

- player size : scale player to fill browser window

I then set up Storyline update 4 : 1311.817 and did a new publication. I had a blank page when I launched the module on the platform.

When I tried with an export created with Storyline update 5, the slide navigation control didn't fully display.

Is there anything that can be done about it ? Is this a bug that will be corrected in the near future ?

Best regards,

Nelly

Hi Nelly,

It sounds like you're viewing the HTML5 output, but could you tell me which iOS you're using? Also, in regards to the blank page were you not able to navigate beyond that page? Had you set the course up to launch in a new window? As far as the slide navigation not being displayed, was it the built in player button (next/prev)? Have you also tested this at SCORM Cloud to help narrow down what is causing the issue?

Hi Nelly,

If you could test at SCORM Cloud that would help us narrow down the issue, as SCORM Cloud is an industry standard testing method for SCORM content. Also a screen capture of the behavior may help us determine exactly what you're seeing and why. Also, if you'd like to share the Storyline file with us we're happy to take a look.

Hi,

I tested the module at SCORM Cloud and it worked fine.

But on my iPad, the slide navigation control doesn't fully display when I publish the content with Storyline update 5, whereas it is fine when I publish it with Storyline update 2 (see captures attached).

Which story size do you advise for an iPad, when the default player is used ?

Hi Nelly,

Thanks for sharing the images. Have you tested this in Mobile Safari instead of Chrome on your iPad as that's our recommended browser for viewing HTML5 content on the iPad? Also there is a discussion here regarding the optimal size for courses on an iPad and information on how the player elements impact your overall size.

Hi Nelly,

Are you hosting your content in an environment where it's launched in an iFrame? I ask, because recently there have been some known issues with Storyline content that is being viewed in an iFrame (either from your LMS or a website) that has caused some display issues. Our team is looking into it, but it's also something controlled on the LMS side of things as well, and since you mentioned it played as expected in SCORM Cloud, that leads me to believe there is also something occurring on the LMS side of things.
