Bug with incorrect layer ?

Mar 31, 2021

Hello the community,

I'm quite new with Storyline and I've produced a module to learn French.

In this Hotspot exercice, when the user clicks "Suivant" (=Next), the Layer "Incorrect" shortly appears before moving to the next slide.

I'm not sure if this is a bug or if there is something I missed ? (see attached file)

Thank you for your help !

Camille

Hi, Camille.

Thank you for sharing your .story file!

The way the hotspot freeform question works is anything on the screen will be clickable. There are ways around it, such as adding your Suivant button to a layer, but the easiest way to achieve what you want is to use the Pick one type of question.

You can change the question type by removing Freeform, then converting it back.

I am attaching your file here as a Pick one question instead.

Let me know if this works!

Dear Maria

Thank you very much for your reply.

The problem with this format is that the feedback window does not appear when one clicks on the incorrect words.

I would like immediate feedback when one clicks on a wrong word.

Can you tell me how to do that ?

Thank you very much,

Camille

Hi, Camille.

Thank you for the details!

If you want immediate feedback (instead of having to click the Submit button with the Pick one freeform question), my suggestion would be to add the Suivant button to another layer. You might also want to do the same thing with the Precedent button.

On your base slide, add a trigger to show the Suivant layer when the timeline starts.

Also, make sure to change the layer properties, so they don't automatically hide other layers:

I am attaching another sample of your .story file with those changes.
