Bundling Files called by a PDF program
Aug 16, 2013
Hello, eLearning Heroes.
I have an issue I cannot figure out. I have a course in which I want to package some files using the Resources area in the player. I have a menu that was created in PDF that lets the user click a button to call up a file (there are several dozen of these files). If I save the PDF menu to the Resources section, when I call it, it opens just fine. But when I click a button to call the file, I get a file path error, probably because I cannot find a way to package the individual files and load them into resources.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to do this? Should I create a special PDF file with all the separate files appended to the main menu page and hyperlink, or is there a way to bundle the whole package?
Thanks in advance for any help you may offer.

Hi Richard:
When you add an external file to any where in storyline (not including WebObjects) it places the file in a folder named external_files in your story_content output folder during publish.
You must manually copy the folder\file structure you car calling in your PDF to that sub folder. Once copied, you then need to view the output project on a web server as web browsers will block local links to open files.

Hi Richard! Not sure how I missed your question, but let us know if the solution that Dennis provided assists you and if you need anything further.
Wow, I just had a Homer Simpson head slap "Doh!" moment. I tried that and it worked. Thanks, Dennis. Sometimes, the obvious is not so obvious.
Thanks for the update Richard!
