I deleted a button but when I publish the course, the deleted button still appears. It is not visible when I edit the course. How can I permanently delete it? The button was previously copied into a character state but can't find it to re-delete it.
It may be helpful for us to see your .story file (or even that one slide) to see if the button does exist anywhere else (places I would check include: within a state, layer, master slide, etc.). Also, you if you've checked all of those items and it's still causing a problem I'd check the following things next:
Work on your local drive (your C: drive).Working on a network drive or a USB drive can cause erratic behavior, includingfile corruption, loss of audio, and other unexpected behavior.
You should also make sure the directory pathto your project files and your published output is less than 260 characters(for example C:\Articulate).
Avoid using special characters, accents orsymbols in your file names.

Does it appear in the timeline? Is it part of a grouped object that requires you to expand it on the timeline to see it?
What do you mean re "button was previously copied into a character state"?

Thanks. It wasn't appearing in the states but what I eventually did was delete the character and then recreate it. That resolved the issue.
Thanks Debbie for the update, and I'm glad you were able to get it working as you'd like.
