Button Sets and the dragged over trigger

Oct 18, 2012

This is more an observation than a request for help.  I would however appreciate anybodoy elses take on this.

I recently did  a teaching session to some new Storyline Developers they were producing some really good work already and still wonder if they needed me at all

They had produced a slider, based on some work Gerry started in the beta.  I broke it the first time I did it and a little bit of brainstorming came up with a fix.

I then went away and thought about it and came up with what I thought was a more elegant solution using button sets and the dragged over trigger.

The plan being that each object would have two states one transparent (normal) and one visible (selected)  you would have a trigger to change the state of the object when a hidden shape is dragged over.  There would then be a series of these objects set up as a button state.

What I thought would happen is that each object would change to normal as the hidden shape was dragged over another.

It doesnt work, so you need to remove the button set and add triggers to do the change back to normal.

Is this expected behaviour, or am I barking up the wrong tree.

Phil - I don't know if this will work, but what if you created a custom hidden state so you didn't use the built-in hidden? So, make your graphic a transparent png and insert it in a NewHidden custom state instead of the default hidden state. There could be some default properties with the hidden state that conflict with your expected behavior.

Thanks David, i wasn't using the hidden state I set the object in normal to transparent.  I didn't think that the selected state would like hidden.  It works if there is no button set, just won't work with a button set.

I think this is expected for the developers, just gives me a headache of needing more triggers
