Button States Changing Between Applications

Feb 17, 2017

I hope I can explain this properly.  I have two instances of Articulate Storyline 2 (as per the license) one on a workstation and one on my laptop, so I can never stop working (yay!)

I've run into a situation where button states (in this specific case, the Hover instance) are not being carried over between the two copies of Storyline.  Same project file (in a Google Drive folder) but different machines.

If I create a button, leaving all the default states, but using custom colours, those states are not carried over when I open the same file on a different machine.  And vice versa.  On the second machine, all the states are identical, all changes have been lost.

Both machines are running W10.  Both copies of Storyline are up to date. Could it be a colour palette issue?  I am using custom colours, but have them matched on both machines.

Driving me a bit mad and wasting a lot of time on fixing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Hi there Clay!

My first thought is that you're seeing this issue because you're working from a network drive. Network drives can be tricky - things seem to be working fine, then suddenly you'll notice something unexpected. We've found that working on a network drive can cause erratic behavior due to latency, such as file corruption, an inability to save changes, and loss of resources.

What you'll want to do instead is save the file to your local hard drive on your desktop, then move it to Google drive. From your laptop, download the file from Google drive, and save it to your local hard drive before you open it again. To learn even more about the importance of working locally, read this helpful article by Trina Rimmer: Save Time with This E-Learning Project Troubleshooting Checklist.

Now if you're still seeing this issue while you're working locally, we'd want to take a look at your file. You can either share it here in the thread using the Add Attachment button, or you can send it to us privately here.
