Button to show layer is also deleting it, even though no trigger is set to hide

Mar 30, 2017

Hello heroes,

I have a slide that has a "Menu" layer to show other layers once clicked. The menu layer works as intended; it shows the appropriate layer, it turns the button into the visited state after clicked, and all appears to work. That is until the user "accidentally" clicks on the menu button for the layer that is already being shown. If the user is on the layer and clicks the button to show the layer they are already on, the whole menu layer disappears and the user is now stuck.

On the menu layer I do not have "hide other slide layers" checked, however on the other layers I do so it cuts audio once clicked. But I did add a trigger on each layer to "Show" layer menu when the timeline starts.

Hard to explain, but hoping my image will help. Unfortunately I cannot upload the course file due to company policy, but can provide as many screenshots as needed.

Any ideas?

Hey Jeremy, thanks for including the screenshot. That was super helpful! What if you added a transparent shape over the menu option for the current open layer, that way the learner wouldn't be able to click on it, and the menu wouldn't disappear?

There are likely other ways you could do this, but it's hard to say without seeing your file. I completely understand you not being able to share it because of company policy, but would you be able to "scrub" the layers of all text and attach just the one slide that's giving you issues?
