When a user doesn't know how to do a task asked of them during a simulation, I'd like them to be able to click an "I don't know button" instead of blindly clicking in the wrong places. Is this possible?
I'd rather not include the "next slide button" at the bottom of the simulation to both discourage accidental clicking, and so I can label a button "I don't know"
Are you using the "Try mode" from a screen recording in Storyline? If so, you can enable the hint captions, which you'll also be able to customize once they're on your slides:
The only built in option is within Test mode to add a "Try again" option with feedback included, as seen below:
You could also record your screen at a smaller size than your story size, and then you'll be able to place a button on the "outskirts" of the screen recording image with the "I don't know phrasing" that would trigger a new layer. Would that be more what you were looking to accomplish?
You could only resize the screen the screen recording after the fact if you were inserting it as a video on a single slide. Since the step by step slides become a part of the slide background there isn't a way to resize them. Another option you could play around with is importing your current deck of slides into a new project that you've set the story size larger than that of your screen recording.
I tried importing the step-by-step slides into a project with a larger story size, but the slides were stretched to fill the entire screen. Can I prevent that and force the import to retain it's original size?
Did you look at the slide settings here in terms of how content would stretch on your story view? That'll force it center though - there isn't an option to dock it to one side of another.

Hi Ashley,
No, I'm not using Try Mode. I'm creating assessments (Test Mode), which is why I want the user to be honest if they don't know the answer.
Thanks!

How can you resize the screen recording, so it is smaller than the story size after you've already recorded?

Thanks for the quick response!
