Buttons Do not Work in Edge Browser

Sep 05, 2016

Hi,

I am facing this following issue:

The prompt for resuming the course which contains the 'Yes' , 'No' buttons is not responding when clicked.

Also the feedback messages when attempting a quiz also do not work when I clicked the ok button.

This behaviour is observed when I am using the Edge browser in my laptop/surface in Windows 10.

I would like to know if anyone else is facing the same issue.

Hey Lucio,

I'm not really sure about it. When i tried to use the same file what was attached by me in this post, it seems to work as expected in MS Edge.

I have now upgraded to using Storyline 360. And I am not running into any such issues. Its a great tool. I would suggest you to try it out yourself at once.

Thanks.

Hi Lucio,

If you want to take a look at Articulate 360 you can start a trial here.

With your Storyline 2 content, do you know if you're viewing the Flash or HTML5 output? A lot of browsers have started to block Flash by default and one way to spot that in Web published content is to look at the end of the URL - story.html will be Flash, story_html5.html will be the HTML5 output.

You can often reenable Flash within the browser plugins or add-ons.

Hi Ashley,

Actually, it's neither story.html nor story_html5.html but rather index_lms.html!!

But I'm not sure that it would be a Flash issue since the lessons run fine on Chrome, Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. It really seems related to the latest version of Microsoft Edge for some reason (it worked fine on the previous version). It appears as if the location of some hotspots is corrupted when loaded by Edge.

Thanks for the link to the Articulate 360 trial, but I'm fine with SL2 for the time being.

Alyssa, I'm sorry for not following up on this issue But I have more critical issues that appeared in SL2. Now when launching SL2, a message appears indicating the "Flash Player 10 or higher for Internet Explorer is required to run Articulate Storyline...". The fact is that I have Flash Player 26 and Shockwave Flash Object is enabled in Internet Explorer!!

Additionally, I can no longer Preview my lessons. When I launch a preview, the preview window opens and seems to load something until the progress bar reaches the end. Then it just stays there without doing anything further.

Also, now when I press the Player button, nothing happens and can no longer open the player's dialog box.

Alyssa, disregard my latest comments. I was the cause of my own headache. Indeed, I had temporarily disabled UIAutomationCore.dll for other purposes and had forgotten to re-enable it. That cascaded into the problems I was experiencing with Flash, including the message regarding Flash Player 10. Sorry!!

The original problem with the Resume dialog box still stands however. I guess that you have been unable to reproduce it? I am a little pressed for time these days. As soon as it becomes possible, I will prepare a little package and send it to you though the link that you've provided.

Thank you

I am experiencing the same issue with MS Edge for Windows 10. Our lessons are published for LMS (SCORM 1.2) as "HTML5" (but not to include Articulate Mobile Player). They run fine with Internet Explorer, Firefox and Google Chrome;

A agree with Lucio, the problem seems to be connected to the Resume Box.  The lessons marked as 'completed' run as intended. But when I launch lesson marked as 'In progress' the Resume Box appears, and the whole launching window freezes.  The only way to leave the lesson is to close the browser window.

Any help would be appreciated

Thank you

Hey Varya,

I'm sorry you've been running into that! Thanks so much for allowing me to test your file.

I uploaded your .zip to SCORM Cloud to test it in an LMS. When I viewed it in Edge, exited the course, and then entered again- I did not experience the freezing issue you're describing. I was able to resume the course and continue forward.

Take a look at it here and let me know if you're hitting that issue still.

Keep me posted!

Hi Sam,

It doesn't seem that we've had a consistent report of this either - can you let us know a bit more on what this user experienced and where they were viewing the content (i.e., browser, version, LMS used, etc.)?

That'll help us track down if there is an issue in Storyline, Edge or how it's communicating with the LMS

Hi Sam,

Thank you for following up.
No progress unfortunately. Still experience the same issue persist. Here is
what I did:
I uploaded .zip to Scorm Cloud and viewed it in Edge. When I launched the
course first time all worked fine. I then exited the course and launched it
again. Got "resume" popup with all buttons frozen. After 10-15 seconds of
clicking on different buttons it suddenly become unfrozen and resumed
normally. Exited and started again - with the same result.

We had to advise our users not to use Edge until the issue is resolved

Hi Ashley,

We first run into issue with Edge back in August.
The course was created in Presenter 13, published to include HTML-5
output(but not Articulate Player); SCORM 1.2

We do not have any problems viewing it with other browsers. But the issue
is persistent through all all courses, not just this one.

Not sure what is the correct way to share the SCORM CLOUD link (I have to
know your e-mail, right?). I just copy it here:

Hi Varya,

Presenter '13 and HTML5 is supported in these browsers:

HTML5

Windows: Google Chrome (latest version)

Mac: Safari 6.0.5 or later, Google Chrome (latest version)

Mobile: Safari in Apple iOS 6 or later

So that could explain why things are not working for you in Edge. Do you know if you have Flash disabled there?  A number of browsers have started to disable Flash by default.

To share the SCORM Cloud link, choose to make an invite that's public and then you'll be provided with a URL you can share. That's what you can post here for me to give it a test if you'd like!
