buttons in custom master slide - small on hover state

May 16, 2013

I have a standard set of buttons I've added to a custom master slide - home, help, about etc. Created states for each button. When previewed, the hover state looks like a mini-version of the normal button state. What could be causing this? Thanks.

Hi Richard,

Difficult to say without looking at the project, honestly. Are you triggering the state, by any chance, or do you simply have the effect added in a normal "Hover" state? If you're triggering the state and the state being used is a "Hover" state, try removing the trigger and see if it looks a little better.

It sounds like it's pulling in a smaller image - do you have a smaller version anywhere on the slide or in the states, at all?

Any chance you can share the .STORY here so I, or other community members, can check it out?

Thanks!

Christine,

It is a simple text box in the master slide with normal, hover, selected and visited states. With or without a trigger it behaves the same; when hovered on, it shrinks substantially. There is no other usage of this in any other place. I have tried removing various states, but it only stays the size it should if I remove all states except normal.

I also tried a box shape with text, and it behaves the same.

Could it have anything to do with the Master template settings?

Sorry, I am not able to share this proprietary file....

Hi Richard,

Thanks for getting back to me and thanks for trying that out!

It may not be corrupted, but again, without seeing it, it's difficult to say.

You could try importing the original project into a new file. That might fix the issue for you, or hopefully it'll at least render the state changes properly.

If you're not sure how to do this, take a quick look at the following tutorial:

Importing from Another Storyline Project

If you import the original slides into a new file and still run into trouble, you're welcome to share the file with us privately. We'd be happy to take a look and see what's happening.

Thanks!

Christine
