Buttons not working on iPad
Apr 11, 2016
I did not see this in any of the discussions.
I have a course that works fine for the PC. We are working to have all of our courses play on the iPad as well.
The second slide on the attached project does not allow the learner to press all of the buttons when played on an iPad. I have tested this on both SCORM Cloud and our LMS with the same result.
I can press the first three or four buttons then they all stop working and I cannot complete the slide. Any ideas or solutions?
Thanks.

Hi, Jeffrey -- Thanks so much for reaching out, and I am going to verify if I also find the same when I test your course via the SCORM Cloud, as well. If so, I may need to set you up in a case so that our Support Engineers are able to examine your file more closely and share any additional insights. I'll be in touch shortly with my findings, and your patience is appreciated!
Hi, Jeffrey -- Thanks again for your patience and I experienced the very same behavior you've described when testing your course via the SCORM Cloud. As such, I will go ahead and create a support ticket on your behalf momentarily and I will be sure to follow along with their progress in order to share relevant updates here for others who may benefit.
Did you ever find a resolution to this issue? I am having the same issue with a course I've developed at the moment. I have taken the most recent Articulate update, but the issue still remains when i publish.
Hi, Craig -- As a bit of time has passed since the last activity here in the post, you would be welcome to reach out to Jeffrey directly via the 'Contact Me' link on his profile page. I did take a look at the case he had submitted, and it appears that ultimately, our engineer concluded the following:
"I have been working with your file and I found that the course will work if you set each of the slide layers to use "Reset to initial state" on the "When revisiting" slide property.
I also suggest using a consistent design across all the slide layers since some of the slide layers have the hotspot covering the whole slide while some slide layers have the hotspot covering only the right side of the slide."
If you are experiencing similar difficulty and would like us to do some testing on your file, you are welcome to pass it along and we'll check it out! And if you'd prefer private review, here is the form you would need to send that our way.
I did apply the solution of having the settings for each layer set to Reset to initial state. That does allow all of the buttons to work on the iPad. See the image for details.
Thanks for popping back in with an update and confirming Jeffrey :) Much appreciated.
Hi,
I have the same problem as Jeffrey with a rather complex slide, but your solution doesn't seem to work.
It works perfectly well on PC and Mac but not on iPad.
I'd be very grateful if you could help me.
Thanks
Hey Martin,
Sorry to hear that you ran into this issue. Looks like Jeffrey was able to resolve his.
I did take a peek at the slide you've shared here, and it is complex. Can you tell me the buttons that you are having difficulty with or even make me a short screen cast to understand what is happening.
Thanks so much!
Hi Leslie,
Clicking on the transparent fields lying above the objects with the questionmarks should each show a different layer. There you can click on different buttons (orange). The buttons 1. change a variable and 2. hide the layer again. Back on the base layer the object behind the button that initially showed the 'choice'-layer changes its state depending on the changed variable.Viewing the published course online with the ipad and with a pc you will probably see that it works fine on pc. On ipad the choice layers won't show.

Hey Martin - Thanks for sharing the details. I took a look at your course in preview and understand how it should be working now.
Does this work for you in an HTML5 view at all? I am having difficulty, even when viewing the HTML5 output on my computer.
I'm digging to see if this is an issue we've seen before.
Hey again - I really think it's a result of the transparent marker that you have set for the clicks. If I adjust the trigger to point to the actual rectangle, it works fine in the HTML5 output. Check out the first question mark here (I only updated one).
