Cache location in Win10

Apr 21, 2020

I have found the path to automatic saved xxxDDDD.tmp files.
Replacing .tmp with .story worked fine.
The storage path is:
C:\Users\myuser\AppData\Roaming\Articulate\Storyline\360.
there was a tmp file from yesterday, but nut a current one.

But there are questions:
1. Storyline does not automatic save every 10 minutes as set in the options.
2. When pressing the shortcut Strg+S, I can see in near the clock a white rectangle. that manual evoked storage does not create a .tmp file in the above mentioned path. Is this manual storage path somewhere else?
3. How many versions of the .tmp will Storyline create?
4. Is there a mecanism regarding x versions an y date/time relation?

Thanks,

Hi Astrid!

Great questions! I'm happy to provide clarification.

Does Storyline have an auto-save setting?

Storyline does not have an auto-save setting. However, there is an auto-recovery setting where you can determine how often temp files are saved.

Storyline will automatically save a copy of your project at the specified interval (after you’ve saved it at least once). The default interval is every 10 minutes, but you can enter any whole number between 1 and 120.

If Storyline closes unexpectedly, you’ll be prompted to recover your project, the next time you open it, from the last copy Storyline stored in memory.

Where does Control + S save the file to?

This keyboard shortcut for Saving files is going to save and update the project where ever it was last saved. For example, if you save the project to your Documents folder then using Control + S will update the file in the Documents folder. This is the same behavior if you were to use the Save option in the File tab.

How many .tmp files will Storyline create?

This number is based on the auto-recovery setting and how often the .tmp files are saved. There is not a standard number for how many .tmp files Storyline creates.

Let me know if you have any other questions!
