Can I record and save as HTML5?

Apr 29, 2013

We need to create a presentation with sound and on-screen recordings and save the file as an HTML5. When we saved a test recording with screen recording and sound as an HTML5 and opened it in Mozilla, it opened, but with no animation or sound. HELP!! We cannot use Flash to create or play this presentation and are unclear what capabilities we have in HTML5.

We are only just learning this program, and we could realy use clear simplified explanations about how to create or convert to HTML5. Thanks!

Welcome to E-Learning Heroes, Jennifer!

I hope I'm understanding the situation. It sounds like you've created a screen recording in your Storyline course and published to HMTL5, correct? If so, how are you viewing the course?

Have you uploaded the course to a web server, or LMS? If you view published Storyline content on your local hard drive or send it to someone else to view on their local hard drive, you'll encounter security restrictions from the computer, web browser, Flash Player, and network that'll cause various features of your content to fail.

To properly test your published content and share it with others, upload it to the environment for which it was published. Please review the following article for details:
Also, it sounds like you plan on using HTML5 for all, if not most of your work. You may want to keep the following chart handy:

Let me know how it goes!
Thanks and welcome again,
Christine
