I have a base layer set up with two buttons to click for two lengthy definitions that learners have to read. The text of the definitions they have to read are in two separate layers. Can I set this up so that:
a) they have to visit both layers when prompted to do so?
b) they have time to read the definitions on the layers and then to click when they are ready to go back to the base layer?
Or, is there a better way to make this happen other than using layers?
Oh, sorry about that Sophie! Thanks for sharing your file.
I'm not sure what you want the final set-up to be, but this should help you on your way. I added a couple of variables to be sure that the user visited the layers as you asked. I added a slide 2 so that we could test properly. Also - the layers are just set to close on user clicking the text, but I'm not sure that's very intuitive. It should help you get started though. Your file is attached.
So, with your fix, they have to visit both layers. But... if there is no audio on the layers and I want them to read the definitions and then return to the base layer when they're done reading, what's a good way to make that happen? Should I just add a "Finished reading" button that jumps back to the base layer? What d'you think?
Your sample slide is a big help. One more question though (sorry)... I see how you set a condition (eg don't jump to the next slide if several variables aren't true), but how do I indicate that the layer - or visiting the layer - is the variable?

Hi Sophie!
Seems feasible. If you want us to take a look, you are welcome to share your .story file.
I am sharing a rough example here as well.
Thanks so much, Leslie. I can't open your example because you used a newer version of Storyline than I have. Here's the slide I'm working on...

Thanks again.

Sure. Either way, the user has control.
Perhaps some other community members will share some suggestions/ideas as well. Design is not my specialty for sure :)
I did just add that "finished reading. Return to program" button. Seems to work well. Thanks again!!
Hi again, Leslie.

Thanks!

In my example, I used the variables on the individual layers. That's when the variable is adjusted.
