Can I stop timeline, so that only the learner advances by clicking "CONTINUE"?

Jun 23, 2017

Hi there
As newby to articulate storyline, I hope my question is not too silly.
I have a story, where I don't want the timeline to advance it but only the learner should advance the story by clicking the "CONTINUE" button.
Still have some trouble getting my stories to work exactly the way I want. Some slides apparently still advance automatically when a timeline ends, even though I have changed the default trigger to "advance when user clicks CONTINUE".
Your advice would be utmost appreciated and have a wonderful weekend everybody.

Hey Roland!

So glad that you're jumping into Storyline! Not a silly question at all ☺️

In Story View, make sure that your slides have the setting Slide Advances: By User:

If you're still seeing them advance automatically despite that setting, can you share your .story project file here so I can take a closer look? You can add it as an attachment right to a comment here.

Thanks!

Hi Ali

That was exactly the hint I needed. I knew my articulate teacher showed this once but couldn't remember, where to find it. I checked where my slides advanced automatically, it was actually due to "automatically" in the field you mentioned.

Thanks a bunch for that hint. You guys do a support great job in this community. I currently wouldn't know what to do whithout it, as I always find an answer, when looking for it and great to know that you can help, once I don't find an answer.

best regards
Roland
