If you are referring to NEXT and PREV, deleting the triggers only means they will take no action when clicked. Click on the gear icon to see the slide properties, and deselect them to remove the buttons. As a bonus, removing the buttons removes their triggers. :)
In story view, you can change the properties for all slides, and in slide view, you can change the properties for each individual slide, which overrides the all slides setting.
