Can I use javascript to display a slide's notes in a layer?

For the course that I am writing I need to include notes for each slide. This work well in general except when I want to display something in a lightbox.

I use lightboxes to display video but lose access to the notes tab within the player. My thought was to include a button-trigger layer which pulls the notes' content from the player. Is this possible and if so, how would I achieve this result?

The easy way is to manually past the notes' content into the layer but I would prefer to create a master slide for consistency.
