Can Quizzes with minus points be reported to LMS?

Mar 05, 2014

Hi,

I know how to create a quiz with minus points using variables and triggers. What I haven't figured out is whether it is possible to get the results from such quizzes reported to an LMS. It doesn't appear to me as if there is an easy way to do this. Would anyone know if this is possible?

Hi Joseph,

You can assign negative point values to quiz questions within Articulate Storyline, so that these would subtract from the overall score, although you'd want to check in with your LMS on how it may read a negative score.

You may also want to review this forum thread where there are a number of source files shared.

Thanks. The only problem I was having was with the results slide that would get reported to an LMS. The ScreenR tutorial doesn't explain what to do in that scenario (or I at least missed it): I wasn't sure whether a custom results slide would get reported to an LMS.

I was probably overthinking the issue, but I wanted to add my custom %MyScore% variable to the default %Results.ScorePoints% variable (since I didn't select any of the questions, the %Results.ScorePoints% would be 0 until I added the results of my custom variable).  The problem is that %Results.ScorePoints% is not a variable we can adjust (as far as I can tell): when I tried to add a "adjust variable" trigger on the results slide, the default %Results.ScorePoints% didn't show up as an option.. Looking at one of the results slide in the link above, I saw that all I had to do was substitute the default %Results.ScorePoints% variable with my own.

Hi Joseph,

You can definitely customize the slide itself to add your own variables, but you can't access the Results variable (although it's a common discussion for a feature request).   I would recommend starting with the built in results slide as all the triggers are automatically included, and then remove/add information as you see fit.
