Can't get my layer to work correctly

Mar 11, 2013

Hi everyone,

I have a course that I'm building and I can't seem to get the layers to work correctly. Basically, it's a drag and drop sentence to picture layout, and I have it so the drop correct and drop incorrect states are green and red respectively. I want it so when the user clicks submit, IF all the answers are correct, then the Answers layer shows, if there are some incorrect answers, the incorrect states appear and the user can retry. For some reason, the layer doesn't appear and it automatically jumps to the next slide. Can anyone help? This is for both slides, I included two because one should move into the next.

Thanks!!!

Daniela

Hi Daniela,

Hmm, either I'm not understanding the issue, or it's not behaving the same way for me. If I drag and drop answers in the first slide and continue, I see the feedback for the incorrect answers along with some audio icons over the images. I don't see the second slide at this point and I cannot click on Submit again. I cannot access the second slide, unless I attempt to access it from the menu.

Here's what I'm seeing:

Hi Daniela,

Ok, so, just to make sure I'm understanding what you'd like to have happen.. You want the learner to only see the "Answers" layer when all of the answers are correct. You want the incorrect states displayed when the user clicks "Submit" if there are any wrong answers. The problem with this is that you're not including a way for this to reset. There's no "Try Again" option in the current question. If you include this, it will reset the answers, so the learner can continue.

Right now, the correct responses do seem to show the "Answers" layer, but so do the incorrect responses.

Here's what I've done:

I removed the "Answers" layer and placed the content in a "Correct" feedback layer.

I added a "Try Again" layer - I noticed most of the content from the Feedback Master was removed, so I did add some not-so-fancy placeholders, just to show you how this will work.

Now, when you have all the correct answers, you'll see the "Correct" layer, that shows the sound icons and correct states. When you provide an incorrect answer, you'll see the "Try Again" layer, which will take the learner back and show which answers were incorrect. They'll be able to try again. If the answers are correct on any following attempts, they should see the "Correct" layer.

I'm attaching the modified version here, for you to take a look.

Let me know what you think!
