I'm having trouble inserting an .mp4 video file into Storyline 2. I go to Insert > Video from file and choose the video and then nothing happens, not even an error message. I've never had this problem before and this method usually works. I'd appreciate the help as this project is pretty urgent.
I can't uninstall my Storyline because I had to acquire special permissions to have it on my computer and am afraid I'd have to go through the whole process again. Is there anything else I can try?
From here, I would reach out to our Support Engineers. They may be able to suggest alternative steps based on your set up. Be sure to let me know your case number so I can follow along!
I have noticed that the Error Message that appears whenever one is trying to insert a video is caused whenever the Size & Position dialog box is open on screen at the same time.
Once that is closed the video inserts fine. No error.
Otherwise a small "SWF" box is inserted onscreen and the Error Dialog box opens.
It looks like we didn't hear back from Suzanne in her support case, but in her scenario I don't see that she saw an error message just that the videos wouldn't insert.
Good to know that having other dialogue boxes open would cause a problem though - thanks for sharing here!
Sorry if I wasn't clear - Alyssa suggested starting a support case so that we could look more into what is happening as the error message she shared (Articulate encountered a problem) is fairly vague and may not have been connected to the video.

Hi Suzanne
is the video on your local drive? or are you trying to insert from an external, network or USB - that can sometimes cause issues
It's on a network, so I can try downloading it locally first if that would help.
Hi Suzanne,
Let us know if downloading the file locally before inserting it does the trick! If not, we'll keep digging. ☺️
It didn't :( It either gives me an error message that Articulate encountered a problem and may need to close or doesn't show anything at all.
Alrighty, let's try these troubleshooting steps next. Let me know if that helps--I'll be standing by!

Hi Ashley. Suzanne does mention it 4 responses above my comment. :)
