Can't "Save As" my project

Jan 18, 2018

I can save no problem, but I can't "save as" - I get the error

'The process cannot access the file c:\users\myname\AppData\local\temp\tmp93AA.tmp'

this even happens when I create a new project, save it, then immediately try "save as"

any ideas?  this is a pain in the backside!

Hi there, Bob.  Thanks for letting us know what's happening.  I have a couple of questions for you:

  • What version of Storyline are you using?
  • In Storyline 360, we've seen similar issues with this folder having too many files in it:  C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Articulate\360 .  Can you have a look at the file count there (the file count should be at the bottom of the window)?

Hi Bob,

We pushed out an update to Articulate 360 today, and there was a specific fix to resolve the behavior where folks were finding unnecessary files stored in C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Articulate\360.

Could you help us with two things?

  1. Share a screenshot of the files in the C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\Articulate\360 folder. You may be able to delete unnecessary files to free up space, but I'd like to see what files you have to be sure.
  2. Update your Articulate 360 software, and let us know how everything is behaving after installing this update. Just launch the Articulate 360 desktop app on your computer and click the Update button for each application.

Keep us posted!

Hi,

This is  caused by a software bug that Articulate is unwilling or unable to fix. The workaround is as follows:

  • When you get the error message click cancel (Do not click "Save As").
  • The software will create a new version of your project with sequential numbering starting at 1.
  • Your revisions are not in the newly created file but can be found in the original file.
