Can't translate language

Mar 18, 2021

Hi there,

I've built a course in SL 360 in English, and I'm trying to build a French version. According to what I've read, I should be able to change the player language by clicking "File" -> "Storyline Options" and selecting the language. However, when I do this, there is no language option (see attached image). Can anyone let me know how to change the language?

Hi, Jon,

To change the language used in the Player, select the desired language in the Text Labels

That will adjust all the auto-generated text that the learners will see in the course, such as button labels and warning-message feedback.

You can also edit any item in the Custom Text column as needed.

As for the image of Storyline Options you provided: weird. When I go to my Storyline Options, I do see a Language dropdown menu:

THAT Language option will adjust the language that you, the developer, will see. It doesn't impact what the learner will see.

Thanks Judy! That's very helpful. I still do want to be able to change the overall language of the course too because I believe that's what determines what language screenreaders will read in (I believe leaving it English will have the screen reading software read French words in a strange English accent that will make it difficult to understand).

Hi Jon,

Thanks for sharing that you do not see all of the options in your Storyline software.

Do you know what version of Storyline you're using?

You can check by going to:
Help > About Articulate Storyline

We are currently on Build 3.50.24668.0 of Storyline 360. You can read all of the details here.

I'm also curious about your display settings. Is your scaling set to 100%? Higher percentages/scaling can cause some menu items not to display properly.
