Can we automate task of creating variables every time a template is reused?

Jul 28, 2015

Hello,

This is regarding re-usability of customized templates in Articulate Storyline 2 (Update 5: 1505.515).

 Current Case:

We are using custom buttons using variables with triggers in the course-ware to achieve the following:

  1. Restricted navigation, and
  2. Custom inter-activities like
    1. Click and reveal
    2. Multiple hotspot
    3. Multiple Choice Question/Multiple Response Question

While reusing these templates in the same story file, we have to create new variables for every reused template.

Required Solution:

Is there a way we can automate this task of creating variables every time a template is reused? May be using Macros or something similar?

Hi Mayuresh!

There is a good explanation of this in an earlier thread about pulling in triggers and variables from a slide master and using it as a template. This is currently by design as the templates are set up to be a base or starting of a Storyline file, but you'll still need to associate those triggers and variables with items in the project. I've seen at least one other thread where users mentioned submitting feature requests about this behavior, so please feel free to share your thoughts there as well.

Perhaps some community members have some advice for your design need and will be able to chime in.
