Can you put a mouseover feature in videos made with Articulate?
Jan 17, 2015
Dear Heroes,
Thanks for your time.
I want to make an interactive instructional video. Let's say the video is about how to make an omelette. The video shows the chef cooking the omelette and there's an accompanying voice-over. The voice-overs says "Take 2 eggs". The word egg then appears in the video.
If the learner puts the mouse cursor over that word, 2 symbols will appear somewhere in the vicinity (i.e. over top of the video). If the learner "mouses-over" one of the symbols (e.g. a camera symbol to denote an image), the video pauses and a picture of an egg appears somewhere in the vicinity.
Basically it's like the roll-over feature you get with most websites but for an interactive video.
Is this possible with Articulate Storyline?
Thanks again for your time.
Jesse

Hi Jesse
not sure about the mouse over but I think you can put markers onto points in the video and when the user clicks the marker it can contain text or a picture or another video. Not sure if that's the effect you want but it might be an alternative. Good luck
Hi Wendy, thank you for your reply. Markers might be my solution. Do you know if the markers appear when you want or are they permanently there from the start? I took a look at some tutorials but they only used a static images. Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
Hi Jesse, if you are using SL2 you can trigger the state of the marker to change from 'hidden' to 'normal' when timeline reaches xx secs so you could cue it in that way. Hope that helps.
Fantastic. You've helped me soooo much. Thank you.
Glad to help - good luck with your omelette!
