Can you really reset a multiple choice question?

Oct 21, 2013

Is there a way to reset a multiple choice/multiple answer question? Learner gets three out of four answers wrong. Can you uncheck -- triggered by Try Again button - the incorrect answer so when they try again, only the correct ones are checked?

Hi Ken,

At first, I was going to say that you couldn't do this, but after reviewing this screenr by Justin

I thought, if you applied the same logic but didn't change the state on the correct buttons, those would stay selected. I tested it out with the attached file and it works.  Now, you may want to indicate this to your user somehow so that they know those are correct and that's why they stayed.

Hi - Know this post is from quite some time ago, but I have a quiz in my SL2 course that i set up using freeform questions.  I want the quiz to reset itself after 2 attempts and have used a numeric variable and some triggers to get it exactly perfect except when the quiz is failed and from the results slide I wish the learner to retry.  The variable and triggers are not working with retry - a learner has unlimited attempts on each question for some reason.  Thanks

Hmm Suzanne, that sounds tricky.  I'm guessing something is happening with the Retry button trigger which resets results.  Can you share your .story file here or with us privately?  As an alternative, give us a really detailed idea of how this works with some screenshots of your triggers and variables.  We'll do our best to help!
