Can you turn off the 'Enter' key?

Feb 15, 2013

In my quiz questions I call exercises, I give the participant two attempts to get the correct answer. If they get the answer wrong the first time they can use the 'Try Again' button to go back to the question. While reviewing my course with my manager, he would use the enter key instead of the 'Try Again'  button which results in advancing to the next slide instead of going back to the question. How can I avoid this? Can I disable the "Enter" key some how?

Hi Marty,

I haven't been able to reproduce this problem. What type of slides do you have following the quiz? Do you have a results slide included, or are you following up with normal slides? If I press "Enter" while the "Try Again" prompt is active, I'm not able to advance, but I'm not sure I have this set up the same way.

Can you give me a little more information about the quiz type and the slides? Or can you share the .STORY file here with me, or submit it privately to our support team?

Thanks!

Sorry, I didn't describe the setup properly Christine. The question is set to two attempts. It includes custom feedback for the first attempt which has a try again button. If I hit the 'Enter' key when I'm in this layer it goes to the next layer which is the wrong answer layer for the second attempt. It does not go to the next question as a described previously. If I can export the question pool to a new story I will upload it.

Hi Marty,

Awesome, thanks for the information. Without seeing it, the only thing I could suggest is to possibly make a trigger for the "Enter" key itself, maybe that would keep it from showing the layer? You could set a trigger for the "Try Again" button, possibly to close that layer when hitting "Enter".

Just let me know if you're able to share it - using either method, I'd be happy to check it out!
