I would like to be able to control a zoom region by triggers instead of the time line since I want to direct learners focus to different parts of the screen but I can't see of any way of doing this in storyline so far.
There is not an option to control a zoom region by trigger. It's based on the timeline element or if using the "zoom picture" option when the user clicks on it.
Thanks Ashley. Maybe in the future. I was trying to use it in a quiz question but created a layer instead after reading through the old replies. I appreciate the speedy answer. :)
This is an old post but I was wondering if there were any plans to put this into 360? It would be very useful to be able to zoom in and out with triggers.
Adding an up vote for user-directed triggers to control the zoom regions! In modules that don't have narration, timeline control for this doesn't work well in my opinion. It would be really useful when presenting a text-dense image that you want learners to zoom in on and explore for them to be able to control and direct this themselves. Creates stress for learners when the timeline controls it and doesn't align with their personal learning pace!
Thanks for helping us understand the need for a zoom region trigger! It's not something we've planned as of yet, but I'll surface this with the team and let you know of any changes.

Hi Toby and welcome to Heroes!
As far as I've seen, you can't control a zoom region by triggers - but there are a few ways you can make it look that way, and another example here.
Any updates to this? Most of the questions on controlling a zoom region with a trigger are 2 to 3 years ago.

Hi Heidi,
It's definitely a good item to share your thoughts on in the form of a feature request.

You can control it a bit by pausing and resuming the slide
